  1. Review current guidelines on perioperative supplemental oxygen administration from the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control
  2. Understand the rationale for supplemental oxygen as a prevention strategy for surgical site infections
  3. Understand the potential harm of supplemental oxygen in the preoperative period
  4. Review the current human clinical evidence around the prevention of surgical site infections with supplemental oxygen
